ICCS are currently offering the Diploma of Community Welfare Work as a distance learning program, using self paced resources with a mentoring approach.
This program is particularly suited to individuals currently working in the community services sector who wish to enhance their client support skills, develop supervisory skills and further their career in the Community Services sector. The program is delivered using a combination of self-paced study, on-the-job learning and regular discussions with your mentor (via email or phone). Participants are required to be currently working in the field, or alternatively take on 250 hours of practical placement over the duration of the course.
Study notes will be sent to you on a regular basis, followed up by contact from your mentor.
The self-paced program provides you with a great opportunity to obtain a nationally recognised qualification and complete your training time efficiently, with the assistance of a supportive mentor.
Successful completion of the course may lead to employment in government or non-government services as a welfare worker, community worker, case manager, client services assessor or family support worker.
Your self-paced study will be supported by regular contact with a mentor. Once you have enrolled, your mentor will contact you to arrange an initial discussion, during which you will work together to develop an individual Training & Assessment Plan. This plan will be developed to reflect your specific needs and study goals. If appropriate, your mentor may arrange face to face meetings at regular intervals throughout the program. Your mentor will be in regular contact with you, either by phone or email to ensure your steady progress through the program.
